First of all you need 5 sup runes, but it doesn't matter what armor you use (although any type of ascetic armor will help you.) Try actually playing the game, do missions and quests. You'll find a lot of things that you can sell to make money.

Go farming on different characters if you got any. Also try go 5 man farming right now with your monk and get greens or golds and sell them

i believe theres a thread for this...*be back in a sec*
--edit--
cant find it lol but theres a thread on the board about it (might have been cleared out)
In any case, easiest way is to join a farming group and farm hydras or other areas. If you have other characters that may help. If you had a runner i would suggest running droks (although for me, I used my monk to run people around). Luckily for me though, I found a superior vigor rune (sold for 50k) back when there was that IDS-craze.
So either farming in a party, random luck, or running.
Good Luck
--edit--
by the way, getting the materials for droks armor is easy. Just remember, parchment = wood which you can basicly get from farming.

You can also get parchment directly from expert salvaging scrolls.

Exactly! Go farming in topk in a barrage group and u will get plenty of raven staffs for wood some gold the odd ecto and maybe some greens to sell on.
Rinse and Repeat
And after a few days you should have all the resources you need.

There's also a merchant option. Buy low, sell high. One can make a lot of money without being a scammer.
Go to the last town you can get to, buy stuff from folks for a little more than the merchant would pay, and sell it earlier in the game.
Just make sure it's among the best stuff that exists FOR ANY GIVEN ATTRIBUTE REQUIREMENT.
And no mesmer stuff; no elements other than fire; no smiting; and probably no curses. Unless you're further advanced in the game than I think you are, that stuff doesn't sell. Also no hammers.

thanks guys, but one question... where are the places you were telling me to farm (topk?), what is a barrage group, and what things expert salvage for parchment?

ToPk = (Ruins of the) Tomb of the Primeval Kings. You get there from Dragon's Lair.
(For more reading: http://www.guildwiki.org/wiki/Ruins_...Primeval_Kings)
Most of the places the above posters suggested to farm are:
1. Mineral Springs, southern Shiverpeak area - North East of Granite Citadel.
2. Outside Augury Rock in the Crystal Desert.
3. Sorrow's Furnace, southern Shiverpeak area in Grenth's Footprint. Nearest outpost is Deldrimor War Camp.
4. ToPk, in the Crystal Desert from Dragon's Lair.
Simply put, a Barrage group is a party that mainly consist of rangers using the elite skill 'Barrage'. Meat shields like their pets and minions from Minion Master necros are used to box in/back foes before they bombard them with arrows. ToPK is swarming with Barrage/Pet rangers.
As already said by Poison Ivy above, parchment can be obtained from "expert" salvaging scrolls.

I was building my 55 invinci monk and had the same canundrum regarding money buying Sup runes. What I did was solo farm hydras outside Augry. How? I had purchased 1 sup rune for smiting, had the grim cesta and managed to craft parchement and feathers from wood and other materials, so I had full tats.
Using one of the builds posted here I set off farming Hydras with HP over 200 (I think). Quicky learned that the DP was a god send for my monk without full set of SUP runes. I was able to get my HP down to like 58 or lower which is really the basis for the 55HP monk. Also learned that if you allow Prot Spirit to go down you die. Also learned that you need skills that offer Energy Regen like Balatahzars (i think this is what I like)
Best advise, get the skills needed, buy runes as you can afford, if you dont have tats craft materials. If you cant get down to the 55HP with runes the DP can be your friend at least it worked for me. Also, farm only creatures that melee attack. Attacking anything that casts spells that do damage through your armor is instant death, so Hydras are an excellent choice.

if i were you, i wouldnt waste your money on tats at droks. Instead go buy the tats a LA. They are cheaper and your get the same stats as droks. and as said above defense doesnt matter for this build.

I bought a set of LA Scars for my Necro on the same basis as Moon-Gel has just explained, and i get lots of people saying how good they look!
Guess LA Scars/Tats arn't used as much as you'd imagine

farm kryta mission, and dont use pig, u make about 1p per 10min run, get galrath quest and farm undead for quest repeatily, or u could farm sanctum,
heres my build;
healing breeze, orison of healing, bonetti's defense(if ur /war), banish, bane sig., symbol of wrath, balthazars aura, and Shields of Judement,
atrib. points should be around this
healing = 13
smiting = 16(or less just takes longer)
Divine = 9
Good Luck
if u need, i could make u a video showing the good smite monk farming locations/techniques

I wrote up a little guide a while ago on how to make a 55 monk if you're poor.
I believe it's been moved to the archive, unfortunatly I have no idea how to view it.
If anyone could tell me how to access it, I'll look for that post and link to it.

I see you run a W/Mo which is the best farming build around not only that you can do runs with.I was just wanting to tell you about if you haven't started or just started your Monk you may want to delete it and go with this build instead.It is a Mes/Mo and Mesmur superio runes are dirt cheap right now although this is a duo build it would work in Prophets Path solo as this build is meant for the UW.If you are dead set on the Monk build do poor mans 55 build like Caged Fury found for you.btw Caged Fury I really like your avatar.
Here is the build I am talking about oh you can use Protective Spirit with your W/Mo.
